Dental Insurance – Hammonton, NJ

An Easier Way to Budget for Dental Care

Enrolling in a dental insurance plan is a worthwhile investment, especially if you’re looking for an easier way to take care of your smile without overextending your budget. At the Center for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry, our dentists are pleased to be in-network with Delta Dental but will be happy to file claims for all other forms of insurance. Our knowledgeable staff will help you find ways to take advantage of your available benefits as well as avoid losing funds at the end of the year. If you have questions about your plan or need help to determine your coverage, call our office today.

How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance can be confusing for many patients; however, the basics of what you need to know include:

  • When enrolling in a plan, you agree to pay a monthly premium. In return, you receive valuable benefits that can help you save throughout the year.
  • Many companies build their plans to provide coverage for a single year (January 1-December 31).
  • Most dental insurance plans offer coverage for preventive and restorative services. For example, dental checkups and cleanings might be covered at 80-100%, while minor and major restorative services (i.e., dental fillings, dental crowns, dentures, root canals, etc.) may receive 50-80% coverage.
  • It’s unlikely that your benefits will roll over at the end of the year, so if you don’t use them, you will lose them.
  • Elective treatments, like cosmetic dentistry and even orthodontics, are unlikely to be covered by your dental insurance plan.

What is the Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance?

Dental and medical insurance are vastly different in many ways. While you’re required to pay a monthly premium for both, one is built as a more reactionary form of savings, while the other is meant to reduce costs by encouraging better prevention.

When reviewing your medical insurance plan, you’ll find that the greatest savings are for hospitalizations, lab testing, and other similar services (those that are typically not used unless an injury has already occurred).

Dental insurance, however, offers greater savings on preventive services, like dental checkups and exams. This means the focus is on minimizing the need for more invasive and costly procedures, like root canals, dental crowns, tooth extractions, etc.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network

Whether you’re familiar with the terms “in-network” and “out-of-network,” you’ll find that, unlike medical insurance companies that penalize you for going outside of your network, this is not the case when it comes to choosing a dental insurance plan. However, it is important to know that if you want to save more in the long run, it’s best to choose an in-network provider who partners with your insurance plan.

In-Network Coverage

Our team at the Center for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry is in-network with Delta Dental. This means that we have pre-negotiated the amount you will pay for various services alongside the insurance company so that you save more when choosing us to take care of your smile.

Out of Network

If we are not considered “in-network” with your dental insurance plan, do not worry. We will still review your policy and help you maximize any benefits you have. You can trust us to file any necessary claims so that you receive the maximum reimbursement for the high-quality care you can expect to receive.
