Get to Know Dr. Joseph Montalbano
As a lifelong resident of the Hammonton community, Dr. Joseph Montalbano (“Dr. Joe”) is thrilled to now be helping familiar neighbors smile brighter in the very same city alongside his uncle, Dr. David Crescenzo. Continuing the tradition of compassionate and clinically excellent dental care is very important to him, and he’s always excited to meet new patients! Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Joe grew up on a blueberry farm, and he’s always enjoyed working with his hands. Throughout school, he developed a love of science and helping other people too – dentistry ended up being the perfect blend of all those qualities! Having Dr. Crescenzo for an uncle was also a hugely positive influence, and he ended up shadowing him at the dental office for several years. While he still took time off after school to work on the family farm, the dental field always pulled him back in the end. In fact, Dr. Crescenzo would regularly provide pro-bono care for the other workers on the farm, which was always a great experience!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Joe attended The College of New Jersey at first, earning his degree in Biology. He continued his education at Rutgers University, where he earned his Master’s in Biomedical Science, followed by his Doctor of Medical Dentistry. During his 4th year at dental school, he also completed a clinical externship at the University Dental Center in Somerdale. While there, he focused on treating medically compromised patients. Today, he continues to pursue advanced education in cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign. He is currently a member of the following organizations:

- New Jersey Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
Outside of the Dental Office...
What Do You Like to Do?
In his free time, Dr. Joe still has a strong passion for farming, and he and his brother actually started their own organic greenhouse business a few years ago. He also regularly travels, having recently visited Ecuador and Italy. Fitness, health, and nutrition are big interests too, as well as spending quality time with friends and family.
